Chelsea and Liverpool are ahead of Barcelona in the race for the signatures of Bayern Munich full-back Benjamin Pavard.

According to Christian Falk via GIVEMESPORT, Chelsea and Liverpool are both keen on having Benjamin Pavard in their ranks. The 27-year-old is on the radar of quite a few clubs, including Barcelona. And his future has been uncertain for a while now. He could be on the move in the ongoing window for the right price.

Pavard came through the ranks at LOSC Lille before making the move to VfB Stuttgart. After three impressive seasons with Stuttgart, Bayern came calling in the summer of 2019, and he decided to switch sides in a deal worth around £31 million.

The 27-year-old full-back has since gone from strength to strength. He has managed to impress one and all with consistent performances throughout. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is highly rated by the German giants and their manager Thomas Tuchel.

The former Chelsea boss is keen on having Pavard in his ranks for next season. However, his future is uncertain, with his current deal expiring in 12 months. Bayern do not want to lose out on him for free and are ready to listen to offers. Meanwhile, they are also in talks to sign Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Barcelona are all interested in him. The Blues are looking to bolster their defence after a disappointing season last time out, and he could be a great fit for the club. As far as the Merseyside club are concerned, they want to sign him because of his versatility.

The 27-year-old is equally capable to feature as a right-back as well as a centre-back. And, he could be a great addition to Jurgen Klopp’s ranks. Barcelona are also looking for a new right-back. Jules Kounde is naturally a centre-back but was used as a full-back by Xavi last season. The player is keen on returning to his preferred position. So the Catalan giants are looking at potential options.

Falk on Liverpool and Chelsea’s interest and their advantage over Barcelona: “Yeah, of course. He’s an interesting player for the Premier League. Chelsea are always in talks with his management; Liverpool are in talks with his management, Barcelona as well, but Barcelona don’t have the money at the moment. They would like to have him as a free agent next summer.”

Barcelona have their eyes set on Pavard. But, Chelsea and Liverpool have an advantage over Barcelona, as the Spanish giants cannot afford to sign him in the ongoing summer according to Falk.

Meanwhile, both the English clubs have been in talks with the player’s representatives of late, like Barcelona. They are making moves to sign him ahead of next season. With Bayern ready to sell for the right price, the 27-year-old could be on his way to the Premier League.
