Aston Villa are interested in signing Jadon Sancho from Manchester United, who they have sounded out over a summer move.

A report from Rudy Galetti on Give Me Sport claims that Aston Villa have now sounded out a move for 23-year-old Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho. And it remains to be seen whether they follow up on their enquiry with a concrete proposal.

The England international joined Manchester United in a big-money move from Borussia Dortmund. But he has failed to live up to the expectations at Old Trafford. Sancho barely started games for the Red Devils last season, and he will be hoping to get his career back on track with regular football once again.

He was regarded as a world-class prospect during his time in Germany, but he has not been able to replicate his top form in England so far. He has been linked with a return to Borussia Dortmund as well. A fresh start could be ideal for the talented young winger.

Aston Villa could provide him with the platform to showcase his qualities without being under too much pressure. There is no doubt that Sancho has the attributes to develop into a world-class player, and it will be interesting to see if Aston Villa can convince Manchester United to part ways with him.

The signing has clearly not worked out for either party, and the Red Devils could look to cut their losses on him this summer. If Manchester United end up signing a new striker this summer, Rashford is likely to drift out into the wide positions, which would mean that Sancho will fall further down the pecking order at Manchester United.

The 23-year-old might need to take a big decision for the benefit of his career this summer, and it will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds. Aston Villa need to add more quality and depth to their attack, and the 23-year-old could be a solid, long-term acquisition.

Working under a top-class manager like Unai Emery could help him rediscover his form and confidence. Regular football at Aston Villa could help him fulfil his potential in the coming seasons. With the 2024 European Championships coming up next year, Sancho will look to cement his place in the England national team.
