Premier League heavyweights Liverpool have offered €40 million to sign Perr Schuurs, a target for Crystal Palace and West Ham United.
According to a report by Italian outlet Tuttosport, Perr Schuurs might be a step closer to joining Liverpool in the summer transfer window. The Reds have submitted an improved bid worth €40 million to land the 23-year-old. The Torino defender is also a target for Crystal Palace and West Ham United.
Perr Schuurs has established himself as one of the best young centre-backs in Serie A since joining Torino from Ajax last summer. The Dutchman was stuttering at his previous club but has found stability in Turin. At the same time, he is on the cusp of breaking into the Netherlands’ senior team.
The 23-year-old has turned out 33 times thus far for Torino, chipping in with one goal and two assists. But Schuurs’s stint with the Serie A club might end after just one season, with several Premier League clubs keen on signing him. And Liverpool, Crystal Palace, and West Ham United are the interested clubs.
Schuurs has been on Liverpool’s radar since his days as an Ajax player. And recent reports have claimed that the youngster is keen on joining Liverpool this summer. With Joel Matip regressing due to fitness issues and Joe Gomez blowing hot and cold, the Merseyside club can do with a new centre-back. The Torino centre-back is thus a viable target.
As for Crystal Palace, the Eagles are sweating over the futures of Joachim Andersen and Marc Guehi. With both defenders attracting the attention of several Premier League, they need a possible replacement. And recent reports have claimed that the Eagles are closing in on signing the 23-year-old.
Meanwhile, West Ham United recently joined the race to sign Schuurs. And with Angelo Ogbonna well into his thirties, the Dutchman can be a long-term replacement. But Crystal Palace and West Ham are behind Liverpool in the chase, with the Reds offering €40 million to secure his services.
