Inter Milan are set to hold further discussions with Chelsea after making a €30 million bid for Romelu Lukaku, with both clubs keen to finalise a move.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan and Chelsea will hold further discussions to figure out an agreement in the Romelu Lukaku case. The Nerazzurri have launched a €30 million offer, but Chelsea are yet to accept or reject it, although the Serie A giants are keen to wrap up the transfer before rivals swoop in.

The Romelu Lukaku saga rumbles on as there is still no agreement between Inter Milan and Chelsea. Mauricio Pochettino does not view the striker as part of his plans for the upcoming season, and the Blues are open to taking a massive loss on their investment.

Signed from Inter Milan in a then club-record deal, Lukaku failed to make the grade and returned to San Siro 12 months later on a loan deal. While injuries hampered his season, he mostly remained behind in the striker pecking order.

Earlier, Inter Milan were not keen on signing the 14-goal attacker permanently, but things have taken a dramatic turn since. The Nerazzurri are now keen to land the Belgian but have financial restrictions to make this deal happen on all fronts.

The departure of Edin Dzeko has opened up space in their squad and wage bill to accommodate Lukaku. The Belgian is keen on the move and ready to take a pay cut to rejoin Inter Milan at all costs. Chelsea are open to negotiating the deal but would want ample financial compensation, something the Serie A giants are wary about.

Amid reports of Inter Milan planning to make a €30 million bid, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the offer has come through. Chelsea are yet to respond with their acceptance or denial of the bid, but talks are set to continue between the clubs to find an agreement.

The Serie A giants were given additional time by Chelsea to negotiate the transfer. Inter Milan are also wary of rival interest in the striker, but his commitment towards joining them will reassure them. There is also an ongoing rumour of Saudi Arabian interest. But the Belgian attacker, who scored 14 goals last season, has not shown any affection towards the middle east.

With the acceleration in talks and the willingness of the two teams to find an agreement, a deal might seem close. Chelsea might seek more money, but Inter Milan could shut the door if they have to pay more for the Belgian forward.
