Chelsea are reportedly in talks with Eintracht Frankfurt for Randal Kolo Muani.

According to L’Equipe, Premier League giants Chelsea are in talks with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt for a transfer involving star striker Randal Kolo Muani.

The French ace was one of the best players in the Bundesliga this past season and continues to garner attention with his scintillating performances. He came close to helping France retain their World Cup title last year only for a last-ditch save from Emiliano Martinez to deny him a place in the history books.

Despite that heartbreak, Kolo Muani has enjoyed a fruitful season with Frankfurt and could be on his way to a top club this summer. The 24-year-old made 46 appearances for the club across all competitions in 2022/23, scoring 23 goals and assisting 17 more, thus contributing to 40 strikes.

Kolo Muani led the club to the final of the DFB-Pokal, where they fell to RB Leipzig. A centre-forward who can play anywhere along the frontline, the French international is a versatile individual who is well-tuned to the modern game.

His ability to get into space and also do the unexpected makes him a good fit for Mauricio Pochettino’s all-action tactics. The Argentine tactician turned Son Heung-min into a world-class talent and could repeat the trick with Kolo Muani.

Chelsea have already added one prolific Bundesliga man to their ranks in Christopher Nkunku. Yet their attack still lacks bite and could do with a couple more quality additions. David Datro Fofana is closing in on a switch to Union Berlin on loan, while Romelu Lukaku and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are expected to leave the club this summer.

This leaves a huge gap on the roster, at least as far as goalscorers are concerned. A solid dribbler who is lethal when on goal, Kolo Muani is exactly what the Blues need. At 24, his best eyes are ahead of him, and he could form part of a brilliant young roster that could dominate the game for years.

Eintracht Frankfurt appear to be bracing themselves for Kolo Muani’s departure and are actively involved in talks for Elye Wahi. The onus is now on Chelsea to make an offer the Germans cannot refuse. Curiously, the 20-year-old Wahi is also a player on the Blues’ radar.

Manchester United are also in the race for the Frenchman and could prove to be a thorn in Chelsea’s pursuit of Kolo Muani. With no UEFA Champions League football to offer, it remains to be seen if Chelsea can make the Frenchman a solid offer that is viable both on and off the field.
