Mauricio Pochettinmo is ready to revisit his previous interest in Paulo Dybala, as the Argentine’s low release clause makes him a plausible target.

According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Mauricio Pochettino is pushing to sign Paulo Dybala as a priority attacking target for Chelsea. The Argentine boss is reportedly pushing the club to make a move considering the low release clause in the Roma attacker’s contract.

A year ago, Paulo Dybala endured one of the most confusing moments of his career. Juventus had offered him a new deal only to reach an agreement and pull out the offer. It allowed Roma to swoop in and take the 29-year-old on a free transfer.

Roma convinced the Argentine from a sporting perspective but could not match his salary demands. Yet, Dyybala agreed on a move and took a pay cut which nets him 6 million a year, including bonuses. The 29-year-old reportedly desires a recognised career, which should reflect on this pay package.

Hence, a move away from Roma cannot get ruled out this summer, especially with a low release clause in his contract. Clubs outside of Italy can sign Dybala for €12 million, which may be tempting. His representatives have already offered the 29-year-old to a host of top teams but are awaiting appropriate responses.

Chelsea were contemplating a move before the season ended, with Mauricio Pochettino the driving force behind the interest. The Argentine manager wanted to sign Dybala during his Tottenham days, but the 29-year-old famously rejected the north Londoners to stay at Juventus.

The new Chelsea boss wants to reignite the interest in the Roma star but will have to ward off competition from former side Tottenham and Manchester United; The Premier League duo are keen to sign the Argentine if they can reach an agreement on his salary.

Dybala will likely ask for a higher salary, even more than Juventus offered in their last contract. Hence, it could get tricky for Tottenham to pursue the deal, although Spurs do not have a particular need for the Argentine.

Chelsea have a better chance to make a deal with their financial muscle, but they might have to make space in their squad for a senior star. Meanwhile, they must act fast, as Roma could offer a new contract to remove the release clause altogether.
