Folarin Balogun agents sound out Chelsea regarding summer transfer

Folarin Balogun’s agents have reportedly been in touch with Chelsea in a bid to engineer a move from Arsenal.

According to Football Transfers, Folarin Balogun’s agents have touched base with Chelsea as he could join Arsenal’s fierce London rivals. The USMNT striker is keen to find a new phase to his career as he may not get regular minutes with the Gunners after a tremendous season in France.

Folarin Balogun has a promising career ahead of him. He was on the periphery of Mikel Arteta’s plans at Arsenal in the season before last but blossomed in the French league. He scored 21 goals for Stade Reims in a top-class season in Ligue 1, which has put him in the driving seat regarding his career.

Balogun wants to avoid going out on another loan spell, and with two years left on his deal, there could be a change in the scenario. Arsenal are set to hold talks with his agents to understand the options on the table, but they remain open to keeping him.

They could even sell him without agreement on a new contract, as his current one only has two years left. Hence, Baloguin has a chance to leave Arsenal, but at a price set by the club, which could exceed £50 million in the current climate.

A few clubs from abroad are keen, but the 21-goal Arsenal star could look to forge a career in the Premier League. Chelsea have now emerged as a viable option for the striker, with his representatives reportedly holding talks with the Blues.

Unlike some unprecedented rumours from Football Transfers in recent weeks, this one could have some element of truth to it. Relations between Chelsea’s new hierarchy and Arsenal have been good owing to some recent deals between the two clubs.

In this window, Arsenal signed Kai Havertz and could return the favour if Chelsea coughs up enough money to convince them about Balogun. Hence a move to West London is not completely out of the question, especially because Chelsea needs a new striker to lead their line in the upcoming season.

Arsenal will surely look to extract the best deal possible for themselves, especially if Chelsea end up approaching. Overall, the Gunners and Balogun are in a good place, respectively, as both can get the best out of a possible transfer away from the Emirates.
