Lautaro Martinez wants to work with compatriot Mauricio Pochettino, as Chelsea could eye a move for the Inter Milan striker.

According to Football Insider, Lautaro Martinez would love to work with Mauricio Pochettino, and the feeling remains mutual between the Argentines. Chelsea could target the World Cup winner as their new striker in this window once the dust settles on other matters that keep them busy.

Arsenal and Liverpool have spent the opening three weeks of the transfer window strengthening their squads, while Chelsea have been busy offloading players. The Blues have managed to trim their bloated squad significantly and earned considerably in the process.

The sale of Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount has landed considerable money, alongside at least two players that left for Saudi Arabia. There are more sales planned at the club, and after that, Mauricio Pochettino and Todd Boehly could switch their attention towards incomings.

There’s a glaring need for a new midfielder and a striker, with several options discussed as potential targets. Chelsea are increasingly looking at the European market for solutions, as forwards in the English league are very expensive.

Italy has been their preferred market, although there have been links to Bundesliga star Randal Kolo Muani among others. They have already signed Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal, but he doesn’t seem fit enough to lead the line for the whole season.

Hence, the need for a high-profile forward, with Dusan Vlahovic one of their key targets from Serie A alongside Lautaro Martinez. The report surprisingly claims the Juventus striker could become available for £43 million, although Juventus are likely to demand around £70-80 million for the Serbian.

Meanwhile, Pochettino wants Lautaro Martinez as his preferred option to lead the line. There are difficulties in signing the striker, but the feeling is mutual, as the World Cup winner would reportedly love to play under his compatriot.

Hence, Chelsea could ponder exploring the signing of Martinez to lead their line for the upcoming season. The striker remains happy at Inter Milan but may want to move on and play for a Premier League giant. His price tag could become problematic again as the Serie A giants will wait to sell him.

Chelsea could also explore paying cash plus Romelu Lukau, who wants to re-sign for Inter Milan at all costs. Hence, the two clubs could find a compromise and use a mechanism to exchange strikers in the current window.

Martinez is a great striker who needs a top team to showcase his talent. Inter Milan are huge, but the current market points towards the Premier League to make a mark. Hence, it’s okay to consider Chelsea making an offer and signing the Argentine World Cup winner.
