Inter Milan could find a breakthrough in negotiations with Chelsea for Romeu Lukaku, with both teams eager to conclude the transfer.

According to 90min, Romelu Lukaku is getting close to joining Inter Milan in this window. The Serie A giants and Chelsea are eager to find a compromise for the 30-year-old attacker, who wants to continue in Milan next season and does not want a return to Stamford Bridge.

The Romelu Lukaku saga could be heading to its concluding stages as his future could find a resolution in the coming days. Speculation around the 30-year-old attacker’s future has been rife even before Inter Milan played their last game.

The Belgian striker remains a favorite at the Serie A club despite choosing to join Chelsea two years ago. After a failed second sting at Stamford Bridge, Lukaku returned to Italy on a season-long loan spell. While he was not as prolific as in his first stint, the Belgian has managed to convince Inter Milan to keep him on board for next season.

Lukaku does not want to return to Chelsea, who, in turn, are uninterested in another loan deal for the 30-year-old attacker. As things stand, all three parties want to conclude a deal for the striker, but Inter Milan were only willing to offer another temporary deal but with the obligation to make it permanent next season.

Lukaku even explored the possibility of the Saudi Arabia league but remains uninterested in that .prospect. He would like to return to Inter Milan, but Chelsea have reportedly rejected the idea of another loan move. Inter Milan faced a cash flow problem to make a permanent bid, but things have changed in the last few days.

They are on the verge of selling Marcelo Brozovic to Saudi, while Andre Onana could also join Manchester United. Those moves will generate much-needed cash for Inter Milan, who could use those funds to sign Lukaku. With those details in mind, there is plenty of optimism the two clubs can reach an accord for the 30-year-old attacker. Meanwhile, Chelsea might also compromise if an obligation clause is inserted.

Whether Inter have enough funds to make a sizeable offer to Chelsea and sign Lukaku remains the question. However, there is confidence from all parties to find a breakthrough, which has been aided by the Belgian’s adamant desire to rejoin the Nerazzurri at all costs.
