Mauricio Pochettino wants Chelsea to sign Lautaro Martinez

Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing Lautaro Martinez from Inter Milan, with Mauricio Pochettino pushing for his signature.

According to Ben Jacobs from GiveMeSport, Chelsea have considered a move for 25-year-old Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, and they have looked at him as a potential option.

Chelsea need to add more goals to their side, and Martinez could be a useful addition. He has proven his quality in Italy, and he had 28 goals and 11 assists to his name last season. He was one of the main reasons why Inter Milan reached the final of the UEFA Champions League. He could help Chelsea get back into the top four and compete for major trophies next season.

The striker is still relatively young and is likely to improve with experience. Mauricio Pochettino could help him develop further. The chance to unite with his compatriot at the West London club could prove to be hard to pass up. Also, Chelsea are a big club and they could help him win major trophies.

Apparently, Inter Milan do not want to sell the player. But they are under pressure because of their financial issues. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea can take advantage of their situation and sign him up.

Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT, “There are a lot of moving parts at Chelsea that Pochettino is going to have to establish, but it is true that Chelsea want a traditional goalscorer. They’ve looked at Lautaro Martinez as well. The Inter perspective is that the player is not for sale, it’s as simple as that.

“But the industry perspective is that Inter are going to have to sell, and significantly, because of their financial situation. It’s all very well Inter saying nobody, where there’s serious interest, is for sale.”

Martinez is more than just a goalscorer and he would add a new dimension to the Chelsea attack. He is excellent at creating goalscoring opportunities as well and is adept at linking up with the other attackers in the side. He could help the other players in the side improve as well.

Martinez was a part of Argentina’s World Cup-winning squad, and he knows what it takes to handle the pressure of winning major trophies and he could be the ideal addition to the Chelsea side. The Blues have the financial muscle to pay big money for him as well.

Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku was on loan at Inter Milan this past season, and the player is reportedly keen on joining them permanently. It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can work something out that benefits them both.
