Chelsea are keen to sell Ethan Ampadu in the current window amid interest from Udinese, as the club does not want to lose him for free.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, Chelsea are actively looking to sell Ethan Ampadu. The 22-year-old utility man is not a wanted player at Stamford Bridge, and the club would like to achieve some money from his sale as he enters the final year of his contract.
Ethan Ampadu has become a forgotten man despite impressing him in his early days as a Chelsea player. The long dreadlocks were unmissable when the 22-year-old utility man took the pitch for Chelsea, but soon he began going out on loan, and that trend has continued.
While he’s had back-to-back impressive seasons in Italy, the 22-year-old utility man does not attract notable interest from important clubs. There are rumours of Spezia wanting to keep him but may not afford his current salary at Chelsea nor their possible asking price.
The latter remains unknown, but Chelsea could demand significantly by the player’s standards. As things stand, Udinese are the only club with a notable interest in Ampadu. They are still considering making an offer but have clarified they cannot afford his salary of about €1 million a year.
The report suggests they could still work out the wages part but will have to agree on a fee with Chelsea. The Blues are open to selling Ampadu for a reasonable price as they do not want to lose him for a free next summer. The 22-year-old utility man entered the final year of his deal at Stamford Bridge, which has caused a bit of concern.
Ampadu is likely to leave, but he might wait for more offers to arrive from bigger clubs. Whether that becomes a possibility remains the question, but there could be a few who might take him on board. If he does leave Chelsea, the 22-year-old could become one of the many sales conducted by the club to trim their squad and raise funds.
Many have been homegrown stars like Mason Mount, who joined Manchester United. Ampadu also holds homegrown status at Chelsea but has no future at the club. Others like Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah are in danger of leaving the club, as the Blues could then begin their spending spree on signing new stars.
