Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek is reportedly closing in on joining Serie A club AC Milan in a €15 million deal.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Chelsea have sealed a €15 million agreement with Serie A club for 27-year-old midfield powerhouse Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Loftus-Cheek has struggled for regular game time at Chelsea and he needed to leave the club this summer. A move to AC Milan will allow him to get his career back on track with regular football.

The 27-year-old Chelsea Academy graduate has shown his quality in the English top flight especially when he was on loan at Crystal Palace and Fulham. He has the ability to succeed in Serie A as well and he could be a key player for the Italian club.

AC Milan needed to bring in central midfield reinforcements, especially after the departure of Sandro Tonali. The Italian international is heading to Newcastle in a big money deal. Interestingly, Chelsea were also interested in the AC Milan midfielder before he chose to join the Magpies.

Loftus-Cheek is at the peak of his career, and he will look to play on a weekly basis now. Moving to AC Milan will certainly give him more opportunities as compared to Stamford Bridge. It remains to be seen whether Loftus-Cheek can fulfil his potential with AC Milan.

The towering utility man will add physicality and technical ability in the middle of the park. He is versatile enough to operate as a central midfielder, a defensive midfielder as well as a wing-back. He could be an asset for AC Milan if he manages to settle in quickly.

Milan have previously signed Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea, and the defender proved to be an instant hit. They will be hoping that the 27-year-old Chelsea utility man will follow in the footsteps of his former teammate and become an instant hit in Italy.

The Englishman has always had a number of English clubs hoping to sign him, and securing his services for €15 million could prove to be a bargain for AC Milan. If he manages to hit the ground running, the outlay will be justified in no time.

Chelsea must ensure that they replace these players adequately now. They are severely lacking in depth when it comes to the midfield, especially after the departure of N’Golo Kante. Mateo Kovacic is also heading out of the club soon.
