Xavi Hernandez has reportedly contacted Marcelo Brozovic to convince him to snub Al Nassr and join Barcelona this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet COPE, Xavi Hernandez has taken matters into his own hands in the race to sign Marcelo Brozovic. The Barcelona manager has contacted the Inter Milan midfielder to convince him to snub Al Nassr and join the Blaugrana. Meanwhile, Gianluca Di Marzio has suggested the Catalan giants are ready to offer €17 million to secure his services.

Marcelo Brozovic is on the verge of embarking on a new adventure in the summer transfer window. The Croat will likely end his association of over eight years with Inter Milan. And after playing a pivotal role in the Italian club’s ascent in the last few years, he will leave with a fulfilling feeling.

The 30-year-old has turned out 330 times for the Nerazzurri, chipping in with 31 goals and 43 assists. But as Brozovic’s stint with Inter Milan winds down, he has two options for his next destination in the summer transfer window. And Barcelona and Al Nassr are attempting to secure his services ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Reports earlier this week suggested Barcelona had accepted defeat in the race to secure Brozovic’s services. And Inter Milan had already secured an agreement with Al Nassr over the transfer fee. But there has been a twist in the last few days, with the experienced midfielder not ready to move to Saudi Arabia.

Reports also suggested the Croat demanded a two-year contract, whereas Al Nassr handed him a three-year deal. Meanwhile, he is reportedly keen on joining Barcelona, thus keeping the Catalan club alive in the chase. And Xavi Hernandez has contacted him to convince him to join Barcelona this summer.

Meanwhile, Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed (h/t FC Inter 08) that Barcelona will offer €17 million to secure Brozovic’s services. But Inter Milan will likely demand more for the 30-year-old’s services. And it is unclear if €17 million will do the trick for Barcelona.

The newly-crowned La Liga champions are still a part of the race to sign their top target. With Brozovic keen on moving to Barcelona, Al Nassr might have an uphill task to secure his services. And Xavi will hope contacting the Croatian international will help the Blaugrana land him.
