Marcelo Brozovic reportedly wants to join Barcelona instead of moving to Saudi Arabia when he leaves Inter Milan this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Marcelo Brozovic favours moving to Barcelona instead of joining a Saudi Arabian club in the summer transfer window. Another update by the same publication has revealed that the Catalan giants are ready to step up their efforts to sign the 30-year-old Inter Milan midfielder.

Marcelo Brozovic has been one of the catalysts in Inter Milan’s rise in the last few years. The Nerazzurri had been down in the doldrums when he joined them from Dinamo Zagreb. But the Croatian international, along with a few other players, helped Inter win the Serie A title in the 2020/21 season.

The Italian giants have failed to win the league title since then but have won three other trophies in the last two seasons. In addition, the Nerazzurri reached the UEFA Champions League final this past campaign. Meanwhile, the 30-year-old has made nearly 350 appearances for Inter, chipping in with 31 goals and 43 assists.

But Brozovic’s stint with Inter Milan is close to ending, and he might have played his final game for the Serie A club. And the UCL finalist has two potential destinations this summer, with Barcelona keen on signing him. In addition, a move to Saudi Arabia might be on the cards, with his agent pushing him to accept a lucrative contract.

However, the Croat does not want to move to Saudi Arabia and has his heart set on joining Barcelona. Meanwhile, the Blaugrana and Inter Milan have considered a part-exchange deal involving Brozovic. But a cash-only operation might also be on the cards, with Barcelona lining up an offer.

The newly-crowned La Liga champions have also made a contract offer to the 30-year-old. But he will earn a much higher sum if he moves to Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, another report earlier on Saturday by Mundo Deportivo revealed that Barcelona will soon go all out to secure Brozovic’s services.

With the player having his heart set on joining the Blaugrana, a summer move might be on the cards. It will be interesting to see if he overrules his agent to complete a move to Barcelona, where he will succeed Sergio Busquets.
