Manchester United are looking to bring in midfield reinforcements this summer, and they could make a move for Moises Caicedo.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Manchester United will soon formally contact Brighton & Hove Albion for Moises Caicedo. The 21-year-old defensive midfielder is also a target for Chelsea.

Caicedo has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea this summer. But the Blues are yet to reach an agreement with Brighton. It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can step in and hijack the move in the coming weeks.

The 21-year-old midfielder is regarded as one of the best young talents in Premier League football, and he could be a top-class player for Manchester United. The Red Devils need to bring in more quality in the middle of the park and Caicedo would be the ideal partner for Casemiro.

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder will add technical ability, control, ball-winning ability and pressing ability to the side. Caicedo has already established himself as a key player in the Premier League, and he could make an immediate impact at Old Trafford.

Brighton reportedly value the player at around £80 million. Bnd it remains to be seen whether Manchester United are ready to pay that sum to secure his services. Nonetheless, they are ready to formally approach Brighton for the youngster.

The player was linked with a move away from Brighton back in January as well, and Arsenal were very keen on signing him back then. However, the Gunners have now moved on from him, and they recently agreed on a deal to sign Declan Rice.

Chelsea will be desperate for midfield will reinforcements, especially after the departure of N’Golo Kante. The French international will have to be replaced adequately, and Caicedo could be a quality long-term replacement for the 2018 World Cup winner.

The Brighton midfielder will want to join a big club this summer. And moving to Chelsea or Manchester United will be an exciting opportunity for him. Both clubs could help him develop further and fulfil his potential.

However, Manchester United can offer him UEFA Champions League football next season, which could give them an edge in the transfer race. Chelsea finished 12th in the League table last year and they will not be able to compete in Europe next year.
