Chelsea are ready to hold fresh talks to acquire the services of 21-year-old Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

According to a report by Football Insider, Mauricio Pochettino is keen on having Moises Caicedo at Chelsea before the start of the pre-season. The 21-year-old Brighton midfielder is one of the most sought-after players at this point in time. And the Blues are keen on striking a deal with the Seagulls for his services. Any agreement will likely come in the region of £80 million.

Caicedo has been in sensational form over the past 18 months. He had an impressive FIFA World Cup 2022 and has been in fine form for Brighton throughout the 2022/23 season. The 21-year-old featured in a total of 43 matches and was on the pitch for over 3,600 minutes.

Arsenal are one of the clubs that have been interested in the Ecuadorian international for a while now. They even submitted a bid to sign him back in January. But Brighton & Hove Albion were not ready to sell him mid-way through the season.

While the Gunners were pondering over a possible move for the 21-year-old in the ongoing season, they have decided to pull out of the race and focus on Declan Rice and Romeo Lavia. And Chelsea are the biggest contender for his signatures at this point in time.

The Blues struggled last season despite spending a fortune on new players. They are currently going through a major overhaul to ensure they have a much better outing next season. Their new manager Mauricio Pochettino has focused on offloading players that are not a part of his plans. And, he has managed to raise significant funds.

The former Spurs boss now wants to push for new signings in order to reinforce his squad before the start of the pre-season. And, he is keen on having Caicedo in his ranks. The Blues have already agreed on personal terms with the player. But there is no agreement in place with Brighton.

N’Golo Kante’s departure has left a major void in the club and Pochettino believes the Brighton star can fill those big boots. Chelsea are opening negotiations with Brighton as they look to secure his services. The deal is expected to be worth around £80 million.

New talks will be held in the coming days as the Blues are keen to make a breakthrough this week. With the Blues keen on having him in their ranks and Brighton ready to sell, a deal should be agreed in the coming days. And it will be interesting to see if the final agreement is worth £80 million.
