Chelsea favourites to sign Arsenal target Moises Caicedo

Chelsea are leading the race to sign 21-year-old Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo who has been on the radar of Arsenal for a while.

According to the Evening Standard, Chelsea are favourites to acquire the services of Moises Caicedo. The 21-year-old has made quite a name for himself over the last two seasons and he is on the radar of multiple top clubs from across Europe.

There could be a bidding war for his services in the summer. Caicedo has gone from strength to strength since joining Brighton back in the winter of 2021. While initially, he was out on loan, the 21-year-old managed to establish himself as a regular in the first team post his return.

He has had an exceptional 2022-23 season, the Ecuadorian international featured in 43 matches for the Seagulls and was the mainstay of their team.

Brighton received quite a few bids for the 21-year-old back in January. But, the Seagulls were determined on keeping him at the club until the end of the season.

The Gunners were one of the clubs that bid to acquire the services of Caicedo. But, both their bids were rejected and post that he even penned down a new deal with Brighton.

His new contract runs until the summer of 2027. Even though he extended his stay at the club, Brighton have promised him that they will let him leave if they receive the right price.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are ready to once again push for the 21-year-old in the summer. He is a key transfer target for the club and Mikel Arteta is ready to go the distance to sign him.

However, they are not leading the race for his signatures. Chelsea are ahead of the Gunners in the race for the 21-year-old according to the report.

Just like Arsenal, the Blues were interested in the Brighton midfielder back in January and they are ready to once again push for his services. Despite spending a fortune on new players, they have failed to build a team good enough to challenge for titles.

Mauricio Pochettino believes they are in desperate need of a defensive midfielder. With N’Golo Kante all set to leave the club, pushing for the 21-year-old does make sense.
