Manchester United are set to sign 16-year-old defensive prodigy Harry Amass from Watford after beating tough competition.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Harry Amass could soon join Manchester United from Watford. The 16-year-old defensive prodigy had attracted plenty of interest from top Premier League sides, but the Red Devils are set to win the race for the left-back.

Signing a young prodigy is not what Manchester United fans want to hear right now as they await major first-team transfer news. Plenty of speculation surrounds the club’s plans in the summer window as supporters await the first arrival.

Mason Mount remains linked, although the deal hangs in the balance after Chelsea rejected a third bid. They have other targets in mind, particularly for the central striker role. Meanwhile, there is talk about outgoing stars, with reports of Jadon Sancho’s potential sale turning heads.

While fans will hope for positive news in the coming days, Fabrizio Romano confirmed a potential agreement to sign young talent. Manchester United got linked with Watford’s Harry Amass for a few months, and it appears they finally got hold of the youngster.

The 16-year-old defensive prodigy plays as a left-back for the Hornets and has impressed those watching him in action. He has represented England at the U16 level, but there is plenty of promise to suggest he might play for the senior national team one day.

Similarly, he has shown enough maturity with his displays to make many believe he could become a top-notch Premier League star. Clubs have not wasted time making their interest evident, halting Watford’s plans for the 16-year-old.

The Hornets had reportedly offered him a two-year professional contract, which he could have signed after turning 17. But Amass has taken a huge interest in his services, from Manchester United, Chelsea and even Arsenal, into account to decide on a new challenge.

Amass might have felt the Manchester United project would prove good for his career. As per reports, he got offered a four-year contract. Whether those are professional or junior terms remains the question. In the case of the former, the 16-year-old defensive prodigy will have to wait until he turns 17.

As things stand, Manchester United have come out victorious in this chase, beating the major competition for Amass. Amass has plenty of expectations to become a top-rated star of the future. He will work towards that once he completes his move to the Red Devils.
