Arsenal have the upper hand in the chase for Xavi Simons, who seems to want a move to the Premier League this summer.

According to Voetbalzone, Arsenal were handed a boost in their pursuit of Xavi Simons. For starters, the 22-goal midfield star wants a move to the Premier League, and secondly, his new agency has plenty of good connections at the Gunners.

Xavi Simons turned heads with his glowing performances for PSV Eindhoven this season and was one of their standout stars. The 22-goal midfield star has already attracted widespread interest, and the departure of Ruud van Nistelrooy may have helped him decide to leave.

In fact, he recently changed representation and appointed Real Estate specialists Doubled, run by Darren Dein. He is also the son of former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein and has maintained excellent relations with the club.

Whether that comes in handy, considering Arsenal have been interested in Simons for a while, remains the question. However, the Gunners are looking into the 20-year-old as an incoming option this summer and may enquire about his availability.

Some reports suggest they have already done that and were quoted a reported €50 million for Simons. The Gunners may move away from the chase for that price. But considering, they are constantly linked suggests otherwise. Simons let PSV Eindhoven off the hook because now he wants a Premier League move.

Paris Saint-Germain had a buy-back clause worth only €6 million. With the player not wanting to rejoin the French champions, PSV hope to receive a sizeable fee. Other Premier Lague sides are interested. But stylistically, Arsenal may have the upper hand.

For Simons, the key factor is not money but the project, where he can excel. Arsenal are on the right path compared to the other interested clubs, which could swing the tide in their favour. However, any transfer will depend on PSV’s asking price, which at this point seems exorbitant.

However, Arsenal could look to invest in young attacking talents, and they are already in talks with some as things stand. If Simons does arrive here, he will not have a starting spot but will have to compete with the likes of Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe for minutes next season. But the Gunners will have plenty of games to play.
