Manchester United approach Andre Onana over summer move

Manchester United are interested in signing Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana during the summer transfer window.

A report from Daily Mail claims that Manchester United have now sounded out Andre Onana regarding a summer transfer. The 27-year-old has been exceptional for Inter Milan, who will demand £50 million to sell him. And it is no surprise that the Red Devils are keen on signing him.

Onana has been a key player for Inter Milan, and he helped them reach the UEFA Champions League final this past season. The Cameroon goalkeeper is one of the best in his position around Europe right now, and he would certainly improve Manchester United.

The Red Devils need to sign a quality goalkeeper this summer, especially with David de Gea’s future uncertain. The Spaniard will be a free agent at the end of this month, and he is yet to sign a new contract with Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Dean Henderson is expected to leave Manchester United as well in search of regular playing time. He has struggled for game time at Old Trafford and is unlikely to sit on the bench at Manchester United next season. Onana would be an upgrade on David De Gea given his performances in recent months.

The Spanish goalkeeper has been error-prone, and his distribution skills have been quite poor as well. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag prefers a goalkeeper with impressive distribution skills, and Onana would be an ideal fit for the Red Devils. The 27-year-old worked with Ten Hag during their time together at Ajax, and the reunion will be an attractive option for both parties.

The Red Devils have decided to step up their efforts to sign the Cameroonain international. And they have now sounded out the player. Meanwhile, Manchester United certainly have the finances to pay the reported £50 million asking price for Onana. So it will be interesting to see if they can get the deal done.

The goalkeeper has been linked with other Premier League clubs like Chelsea as well, and he is thought to be a man in demand. However, Manchester United can offer him Champions League football, which will give them an edge in the transfer race.
