Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing AS Monaco defender Axel Disasi, a target for Arsenal and Chelsea.

According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins, AS Monaco are prepared to open talks for Axel Disasi for an offer of around €40 million this summer. But Manchester United will face competition from Arsenal and Chelsea.

Apparently, Manchester United are yet to submit an offer for the 25-year-old French international defender. But they are ahead of the other clubs in the race, and manager Erik ten Hag is set to hold talks with the player shortly.

It is no secret that Manchester United need to add defensive depth to their squad, and the 25-year-old could prove to be a quality acquisition. Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane are the only reliable defenders at the club right now. Meanwhile, players like Harry Maguire have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford.

Manchester United will have to replace the England international adequately if he ends up leaving the club, and Disasi has emerged as a viable target. The reported €40 million asking price seems quite reasonable for a player of his ability. And it could prove to be a bargain if Manchester United managed to get the deal done.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will have to add depth at the back as well. The injury to William Saliba derailed their title race towards the end of the 2022/23 campaign, and the Gunners cannot afford a similar situation next season.

On the other hand, Chelsea have decided to sell Kalidou Koulibaly after a disappointing debut campaign, and they will need to replace the Senegal international. Disasi has been identified as a potential target. But it will be interesting to see if the Blues can fend off competition from Arsenal and Manchester United.

Manchester United and Arsenal can offer the player Champions League football next season, which could give them an edge over Chelsea in the transfer race. Furthermore, all three clubs have the financial resources to pay the reported asking price for the 25-year-old defender. A move to the Premier League would be an exciting next step in the career of the French defender. But it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
