Chelsea will look to finalise the deal worth £30 million to sign Senegalese attacker Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal soon.

According to a report by Daily Mail, Chelsea will aim to seal the deal to sign Nicolas Jackson in the coming days. The 22-year-old attacker has a release clause worth £30 million in his contract with Villarreal. But the Blues are yet to finalise the agreement as they want to pay the amount in instalments.

Nicolas Jackson has seen his stock soar in the wake of a stunning end to the 2022/23 season. The Senegalese international was a largely unheralded figure for much of his early days with Villarreal. And he had not even become a regular for the Yellow Submarine until the recently-concluded campaign.

Even when the 22-year-old established a foothold at Estadio de la Ceramica, he only attracted mid-table clubs. But after ending the season with 13 goals and five assists in 38 appearances, his stature has increased. And several high-profile clubs, including Chelsea, have chased him in the last few weeks.

Chelsea only joined the race to sign Jackson midway through last week. But they have taken no time to blow their competitors out of the water. And the Blues are the front-runners to land the young attacker, with personal terms not posing any issue. Meanwhile, Chelsea will trigger his release clause, worth £30 million.

The West London club struggled for goals this past season, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being a shell of his best version. In addition, Armando Broja spent the majority of the campaign on the sidelines due to a knee injury. Meanwhile, Kai Havertz was Chelsea’s top scorer, with only nine goals across all competitions. And the German international is on the verge of joining Arsenal.

So it behoves Chelsea to sign a promising striker in the summer transfer window. And while the prolific Christopher Nkunku has joined the West London club, they need an out-and-out striker. Nicolas Jackson has thus emerged as a viable target for Chelsea. And they are now working to finalise the deal worth £30 million for the youngster.

The only reason the Blues have yet to seal the deal is due to their insistence on paying Jackson’s release clause in instalments. And it will be interesting to see if Chelsea and Villarreal can finalise the agreement worth £30 million in the coming days.
