Manchester United set to agree £375,000-a-week deal with Marcus Rashford

Manchester United are reportedly set to agree to a new deal with Marcus Rashford worth £375,000 per week.

According to The Sun, Marcus Rashford is closing in on a £375,000-a-week agreement with Manchester United. The English forward will sign a new contract that will be valid for five years, while the club could extend it by another season.

Manchester United are having a strange period in the transfer market, with finances likely stifling their otherwise aggressive nature in the window. Yet, the club are eager to tie down deals for favoured targets and move on with their squad-strengthening exercises.

They are still in the mix for Mason Mount despite Chelsea rejecting their initial offer. They are also keen to land a top-draw striker before the start of the season. Meanwhile, other issues are lingering with contract renewals of their top players.

Those include David De Gea and Marcus Rashford, with both deals considered key by Erik ten Hag. For starter, the Spanish keeper is yet to agree on a new contract, with Manchester United offering a reported £200,000-a-week contract, which involves a massive pay cut from his current £375,000-a-week deal.

Manchester United are unwilling to go any further with their offer, with the decision now in the Spanish custodian’s hands. Meanwhile, they want to offer Rashford, who scored 30 goals in all competitions this past season, a new contract worth De Gea’s salary, amounting to £375,000-a-week.

If both players agree, we will effectively see a salary swap, with De Ga likely to earn what Rashford makes currently. The report claims the 25-year-old attacker is closing in on a new £375,000-a-week agreement with Manchester United that will end speculation surrounding his future.

Rashford will the final year of his contract in July after Manchester United triggered the 12-month option in his existing deal. They have been discussing a renewal for a few months, with a deal now on the verge of concluding.

The potential £375,000-a-week agreement will reflect on his stature in the side, as he remains their most lethal attacker. Rashford wanted to stay at Manchester United amid heavy links to PSG, as he even reportedly turned down a massive contract from the French giants a few months ago.

Fans will express their delight at the news of Rashford’s eagerness to pen new terms and will not bother too much with the wage on offer. Ten Hag will also hope for De Gea to sign a new contract, or else Manchester United will have to dip into the market and spend on a new keeper, which could prove costly.
