Real Madrid will plot an emergency move for outgoing Liverpool veteran Roberto Firmino if cannot land priority target Kylian Mbappe.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Roberto Firmino is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. But the Merengues view the 31-year-old as an emergency option if they fail to land their top target, Kylian Mbappe. And they have already probed the outgoing Liverpool star.

Roberto Firmino will officially end his glorious eight-year stint with Liverpool when the month ends. The Brazilian international has been the catalyst in the Reds’ ascent in the Premier League under Jurgen Klopp. And he was the trusted lieutenant for the Liverpool manager season after season.

But Firmino’s stint with Liverpool will officially end when the summer transfer window opens in July. And the 31-year-old, who joined the Merseyside club in a deal worth €41 million, is now looking forward to his next adventure. That opportunity might come at Real Madrid, with other clubs also chasing the outgoing Liverpool veteran.

Firmino has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. And following Karim Benzema’s shocking departure, he is the most stylistically-similar striker to the Frenchman in the market. But the Liverpool legend is not the priority target for Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window.

Los Blancos will prefer to sign Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain this summer. The French international has revealed that he will not sign a new contract with PSG, with his current deal expiring next year. So the 24-year-old is a top target for Real Madrid following the latest update.

But Mbappe recently quashed suggestions he wants to join Real Madrid this summer. So the Spanish giants must set their sights elsewhere for alternatives if they fail to land the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner. So Firmino’s name has emerged as a possible emergency option if Mbappe does not join Real Madrid.
