Real Madrid will have no qualms about handing a contract worth €5 million per year to Liverpool veteran Roberto Firmino.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Roberto Firmino has become a top target for Real Madrid. The Liverpool legend wants a three-year contract worth €5 million per year to join Los Blancos. And Florentino Perez is willing to accept the veteran attacker’s demands.

Roberto Firmino has forged a lasting legacy at Anfield since joining Liverpool from Hoffenheim eight years ago. The Brazilian international’s arrival was met with scepticism from fans and pundits alike. But he has been the bedrock of the Liverpool juggernaut under the tutelage of Jurgen Klopp.

The 31-year-old was the ideal foil for Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah for most of his stint. And despite enduring injury horrors this season, he managed a solid tally of 13 goals and five assists in 35 appearances across all competitions. But Firmino’s stint with Liverpool will end in the coming weeks, with his contract running out. And the situation has captured the attention of Real Madrid.

Fears of Karim Benzema’s impending departure from Real Madrid are subsiding. Meanwhile, Joselu will likely replace the outbound Mariano Diaz in the summer transfer window. But Benzema’s fitness issues this season should compel Real Madrid to enter the market for another striker in the summer transfer window.

Firmino has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid. And recent reports have also claimed that Los Blancos might prefer to sign the Liverpool veteran instead of Harry Kane. And according to the latest update from Defensa Central, the experienced attacker is a step closer to joining Real Madrid.

The Brazilian international has demanded a three-year contract worth €5 million per year to join Real Madrid. And the Merengues are ready to accept Firmino’s request. So the Liverpool star will likely compete with Joselu to be Benzema’s backup in the 2023/24 season.
