Atalanta have decided to hike the asking price for Rasmus Hojlund to £86 million amidst interest from Manchester United.

According to Daily Mail, Manchester United are keen on acquiring the services of Rasmus Hojlund. The Red Devils are in search of a new striker, and they have been monitoring the 20-year-old striker for a while now. But Atalanta will demand £86 million to part ways with the Danish upstart.

Hojlund has made quite a name for himself with exceptional performances for club and country. And, quite a few clubs are keen on having him in their ranks. Atalanta are well aware of the amount of interest in the 20-year-old striker, and they have decided to increase the price tag for his services.

The Serie A club recently had a meeting where they decided to place an £86 million price tag on the Denmark international. They are looking for a club record fee for the 20-year-old who joined them from Sturm Graz last summer.

In his very first season in the Serie A, the former Sturm Graz forward had 13 goal contributions in 32 appearances. He found the back of the net on nine occasions and also had four assists to his name. And the Dane managed an overall tally of 16 goals and seven assists in 42 appearances.

His performances attracted the attention of Manchester United, and they have been slowly making moves to sign the 20-year-old. The Denmark international had recently penned down a short-term deal with agency SEM. That is the same agency that manages Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. And, it has led to a belief that Manchester United hold an upper hand in any negotiations.

However, the new price tag of £86 million suggests that Atalanta are well in control. And, with Hojlund’s contract valid until the summer of 2027, the Italian club are in no real hurry to negotiate his departure. Meanwhile, Manchester United are in desperate need of a new number nine.

While their priority is to sign a proven goal scorer, they are not really ready to spend a fortune to acquire one. As a result, signing their priority targets, Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen might not be a possibility. Manchester United were hoping to get their hands on Hojlund for a fee of around £45 million. But with his price tag hiked, it will be interesting to see how they proceed further.
