Manchester United are unwilling to pay £100 million for Harry Kane, which could cool their interest in the Tottenham striker.

According to Daily Mail, Manchester United are ready to bow out of the race for Harry Kane altogether. The Red Devils are unwilling to pay £100 million for the 32-goal striker target while also considering the prolonged nature of negotiations they may have to deal with when speaking to Daniel Levy.

Erik ten Hag will be disappointed knowing his team will no longer engage in the chase for Harry Kane. The 32-goal striker target was the Dutchman’s primary objective in this window, as Manchester United desperately needed a new forward.

There were plenty of complexities surrounding the England captain. Manchester United were aware of the tough nature of Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy when it comes to negotiations and did not want to enter a transfer saga for the next two months.

The club want a swift decision on their new striker and has been in the market for many options. However, the prospect of signing Kane enticed ten Hag, considering the forward is entering the final year of his deal at Tottenham next month.

Knowing the facts, Manchester United are unwilling to pay Kane’s £100 million asking price. The tag may seem too steep for a player they could sign for free next summer. However, there is the danger of the striker penning new terms in the coming season.

Similarly, they have reportedly cooled their interest in another target, Victor Osimhen, with Napoli demanding as much as £120 million. Now, they might switch their attention to Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund, who may cost around £60 million.

The Danish international does not have the experience ten Hag would have wanted but may come across as a viable alternative to Kane or Osimhem. As for the Tottenham star, his future may be decided during the upcoming season, as he could either sign a new deal or leave for free next summer.

Manchester United are also waiting in the wings to make another offer for Mason Mount, who remains one of their top midfield targets. Chelsea have already rejected a £40 million bid. But the Red Devils will make another offer close to £50 million.

Ten Hag would have ideally liked both Kane and Mount in his team. But unfortunately, the circumstances have put Manchester United out of the race for the former. Whether they sign Hojlund remains the question, but the manager would want a top-draw striker to lead the line next season.
