Manchester City have reportedly rejected a player exchange deal from PSG for Bernardo Silva, but now they have asked for a huge nugget in the form of wonderkid Warren Zaire-Emery in return.
According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Manchester City have leveraged PSG’s interest in Bernardo Silva, suggesting a potential exchange deal that would see the teenage sensation Warren Zaire-Emery go the other way to the Etihad, an option Hawkins claims Les Parisiens rebuffed.
It is no secret that Bernardo Silva is one of Luis Campos’s priority targets for PSG, with the French giants seemingly going through a major squad makeover this summer. Winner of the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League this past season, the Portuguese international has already made his stance clear: he would like to leave Manchester City for a new challenge.
That being said, Pep Guardiola does not want to lose Silva, who has been a vital cog of his side since 2017. However, Football Insider also stated that the club will sell the Portuguese, whose contract runs out in 2025 if their valuation of £70 million is met.
But PSG consider the asking price very expensive and have been trying to lower it by including one or more players in the transaction. The names of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marco Verratti have already been mentioned.
But according to information from Fabrice Hawkins, Manchester City have another PSG player on their agenda in the form of Warren Zaire-Emery. The Cityzens are keen to rope the 17-year-old wonderkid in as part of an exchange deal that will see Silva move to Paris.
Zaire-Emery has emerged as one of the most promising upcoming talents in Europe over the past season. He broke through into his boyhood club’s first-team plans after making his debut last August, contributing to their Ligue 1 success in the process.
A right-footed defensive midfielder blessed with passing, technical quality, lots of ball progression, and work rate, the France Under-19 international proved himself with a string of impressive performances under Christophe Galtier. He started ten of his 31 appearances last term.
The 17-year-old midfielder has two years left on his current contract. And while PSG hold a long-standing interest in Silva, they are reportedly unwilling to let go of their teenager this summer. With Zaire-Emery off the table, PSG will likely need to put together a huge cash proposal as Manchester City have no interest in the players that PSG are willing to offer in a part-exchange deal.
