Manchester City are ready to go all out to acquire the services of 21-year-old RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol.

According to Football Insider, Manchester City are keen on acquiring the services of Josko Gvardiol. Despite having a star-studded defence, they are looking to further strengthen it ahead of next season. And, the 21-year-old RB Leipzig defender is a key transfer target for them.

Gvardiol joined Leipzig back in the summer of 2021 after coming through the ranks at Dinamo Zagreb. The 21-year-old has been putting in dominating performances in both the League as well as the Champions League. And, his performances have attracted a lot of attention.

Gvardiol’s contract with the German club runs until the summer of 2027 after he penned down a new deal with them last year. And, his new contract also includes a release clause of around £100 million but it won’t be active until the summer of 2024.

However, the 21-year-old could still be on the move in the summer transfer window given the interest from Manchester City.

Pep Guardiola’s team have just won UEFA Champions League and have become the second English team to win the treble. Having done their bit on the football pitch, they will now shift their focus towards the transfer window. And, they are looking to sign a new central defender to further bolster their squad.

City have been monitoring Gvardiol for a while now. They are very impressed with what they have seen of the 21-year-old and consider him an important transfer target.

The Croatian international was the mainstay of his national team in the FIFA World Cup 2022 and he can be a great acquisition for the present as well as the future.

While they do have Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, John Stones, Aymeric Laporte and Manuel Akanji in their ranks, City have always looked for upgrades and the 21-year-old’s arrival will surely be one.

With Aymeric Laporte’s future uncertain, Guardiola’s men are all set to put forward a £80 million offer for the Croatian international. While there are other clubs interested in Gvardiol’s services, they might not stand a chance with City ready to go all out for his services.
