Aymeric Laporte has been linked with a summer move away from Manchester City, with Aston Villa and Tottenham keen.

It appears that Premier League clubs Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Aymeric Laporte this summer. And a report from 90min claims that the Manchester City defender could be on his way out of the Premier League club this summer. And the Citizens want £40 million to part way with the Spanish international.

Laporte has played in the Premier League for a considerable period of time. And the opportunity to continue in England could be an attractive proposition for him. He has proven himself to be a reliable defender on the international stage as well.

It is no secret that Aston Villa will have to improve their squad to build on their impressive campaign and push for trophies next season. Signing Laporte would represent a coup for them. But it remains to be seen whether the West Midlands club can pull it off.

But Aston Villa will face competition from Premier League rivals Tottenham, who are looking to bring in a reliable partner for Cristian Romero. Tottenham have been quite vulnerable defensively, and they need to improve in that department to get back into the top four and compete for trophies next season.

It has been a disappointing season for Tottenham, and they have finished below Aston Villa in the league table. The north London club will be expected to bounce back strongly, and they need to bring in better players this summer. Spurs have also shown interest in Manchester United captain Harry Maguire.

Tottenham have appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new manager. Time will tell whether the 57-year-old Australian can convince the Manchester City defender to move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium instead of moving to Aston Villa.

There is no doubt that Tottenham have a better squad at their disposal. And despite an underwhelming campaign this past season, they are better placed to challenge for trophies next year. Meanwhile, £40 million is an acceptable price tag for a Premier League winner still at his peak.

Indeed, Laporte is at the peak of his powers right now, and he will look to make an immediate impact in the Premier League. Apart from his defensive qualities, Laporte is an exceptional passer from the back and will help Aston Villa or Tottenham build from the back, adding a new dimension to their distribution.
