Sofyan Amrabat has been linked with a summer move away from Fiorentina, with Tottenham and Barcelona keen to sign him.

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Tottenham are looking to hijack Barcelona’s move for the 26-year-old midfielder and secure his signature in the coming weeks.

Amrabat has been a key player for club and country, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Tottenham and Barcelona. Tottenham need to add more quality and depth in the middle of the park. And the Moroccan international would improve them immensely.

The North London club have had to use Pierre-Emile Hojberg and Rodrigo Bentancur quite often this season. And newly-appointed manager Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to rotate his squad more often. He needs more options at his disposal. The 26-year-old World Cup squad star would thus be a quality acquisition.

Apparently, the midfielder is valued in excess of €25-30 million, and he could prove to be a major bargain at that price. Meanwhile, Barcelona need to bring in an adequate replacement for Sergio Busquets whose contract expired recently.

Amrabat has been linked with a move to Barcelona for months, and he is reportedly keen on the move. It remains to be seen whether Barcelona can fend off the competition from Tottenham and secure his services. The Blaugrana have financial limitations, and they might struggle to compete with the resources of the Premier League club.

Furthermore, Tottenham recently brought in a new manager, and they are likely to back him in the transfer market. If Postecoglou wants to sign the Moroccan international, Daniel Levy could be prepared to pay substantial money for him. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Tottenham have had a disappointing campaign, and they have missed out on Champions League qualification. They are in desperate need of reinforcements this summer, and a quality player like Amrabat could make a big difference.

The 26-year-old will add defensive steel and physicality to the Tottenham and Barcelona midfield. His leadership qualities could also prove to be priceless for the two clubs. Signing a player of his ability for a fee of around €25-30 million could prove to be a major bargain. So the two clubs should do everything in their power to get the deal done.
