Arsenal will reportedly compete with Tottenham for 24-year-old Danish defender Victor Nelsson, whose release clause is €25 million.

According to a report by Turkish outlet Fanatik, Victor Nelsson is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners have joined Tottenham Hotspur and Sevilla in the race to sign the 24-year-old. And the Fenerbahce defender has a release clause worth €25 million in his contract.

Victor Nelsson has gone from strength to strength since joining Galatasaray from FC Copenhagen in August 2021. The transfer was his first move outside his homeland. And the Danish international has been one of the most underrated defenders in Europe in the last two years.

The 24-year-old has turned out 80 times thus far for Galatasaray, chipping in with two goals and one assist. And Nelsson’s progress has captured the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Arsenal and Tottenham. In addition, the player’s release clause, worth €25 million, makes him an attractive target.

Nelsson has been on Tottenham’s radar for a long time. And it is hardly surprising that the North London giants are keen on signing the Dane this summer. After all, when a defensive unit playing under Antonio Conte falters, you know something is wrong. And with Cristian Romero the only reliable central defender at Tottenham, they need a new centre-back.

Nelsson is thus a viable target for Tottenham. And they have reportedly offered €25 million to sign the 24-year-old in the summer transfer window. But Tottenham will face stiff competition from fellow North London club Arsenal for the player this summer.

Unlike Tottenham, Arsenal’s need to sign a new centre-back is less urgent. But after they struggled in the absence of William Saliba this past season, pursuing a right-footed centre-back is sensible. So Nelsson is a viable target for Arsenal this summer. But it is unclear if the Gunners are ready to shell out €25 million to sign the Danish international.

Apart from Arsenal and Tottenham, Nelsson is also a target for Sevilla. And Galatasaray will not sell the 24-year-old if a suitor offers less than €25 million. It will be interesting to see if the player leaves the Turkish club to embark on an adventure in the Premier League.
