Chelsea are looking to sign a quality goalkeeper this summer, and they are keeping tabs on the AC Milan star Mike Maignan.

Mike Maignan has been one of the best goalkeepers in Europe this season. So it is no surprise that Chelsea are looking to sign him. According to a report from Daniele Longo, Chelsea have failed with a €60 million offer to sign the 27-year-old French international.

Apparently, AC Milan are working to renew the goalkeeper’s contract, and they consider him non-transferable. Meanwhile, Chelsea and AC Milan are reportedly in contact for the transfer of midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek. The English midfielder has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, and he needs to leave the club in order to play regularly.

It will be interesting to see if the Blues can capitalise on the talks to hash out a deal to sign the French goalkeeper. Maignan is at the peak of his career right now, and he could prove to be a sensational acquisition for Chelsea.

The 27-year-old would be a major upgrade on players like Edouard Mandy and Kepa Arrizabalaga. So it is hardly surprising that Chelsea offered €60 million to secure Maignan’s services this summer. But AC MIlan will not entertain any offers if things go their way.

Edouard Mendy is expected to leave the West London club this summer after falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge. He has been behind Kepa in the race for the starting spot and needs to leave in order to play regularly.

Chelsea need to sign a quality goalkeeper this summer, and they have been linked with players like David Raya as well. There is no doubt that Chelsea have the financial resources to tempt Milan with a higher offer. But it remains to be seen whether they decide to come back with an improved offer in the coming weeks.

The Blues have spent a substantial amount of money on new signings recently, and the new owners have splashed around €600 million on new players. Chelsea had a disappointing campaign, finishing 12th in the league table.

They will be hoping to bounce back strongly and challenge for the Premier League title next year. Chelsea need better players in order to compete with clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal. Signing a player like Maignan would improve them immensely and help them compete at the highest level.
