Manchester United are hoping to finalise the deal to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer for £50 million.

According to a report from Daily Telegraph, Manchester United have offered £50 million to sign 24-year-old England international Mason Mount from Chelsea this summer.

The midfielder has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Chelsea. So it will be interesting to see if the Blues are willing to accept £50 million for his services. Mount has reportedly agreed personal terms with Manchester United and is keen on the transfer.

The English midfielder has been heavily linked with Liverpool as well. But it seems that Manchester United have now overtaken them in the race to sign the England international.

Mount has had a disappointing campaign with Chelsea this season. But he remains one of their best players and he has a bright future ahead of him. The 24-year-old is a proven performer in the Premier League, and he could develop into a key player for Manchester United in the coming seasons.

The Red Devils need to add more creativity in the middle of the park, and Mount would be an upgrade on Christian Eriksen. That 24-year-old Chelsea midfielder can play in a number of roles in the middle of the park and his versatility will be an added bonus.

The England international will chip in with goals as well and he could add a new dimension to the Manchester United attack. The Blues have tried to agree on a new contract with the player in recent months. But they have not been able to convince the player to accept a reasonable contract offer.

They are powerless to stop him from leaving next summer and it makes sense for them to cash in on him right now. Losing a player of Mount’s quality on a free transfer would be a devastating blow.

Chelsea have missed out on Champions League qualification, and the transfer to Manchester United will allow the England international to compete at the highest level next season. He will be hoping to make an immediate impact at Old Trafford and help the club compete for the league title next season.
