Xavi Hernandez reportedly like Bayern Munich attacker Serge Gnabry, but Barcelona will not secure his services this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Xavi Hernandez is an admirer of Serge Gnabry. The Barcelona manager will love to have the Bayern Munich attacker in his squad. But the Blaugrana will not approach the Bundesliga champions over a deal in the summer transfer window.

Serge Gnabry has established himself as one of the most enterprising attackers in the world in the last few years. The 27-year-old got a new lease of life when he moved to Germany after failing to make his mark at Arsenal. And his stock has skyrocketed since his breakthrough season with Bayern Munich nearly half a decade ago.

The German international has enjoyed a solid 2022/23 season, amassing 17 goals and 12 assists in 47 appearances. But despite contributing to 29 strikes, Gnabry’s future is uncertain, with Bayern putting him up for sale. And the player’s situation at the Bundesliga club has captured the attention of Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez.

The Barcelona manager is an admirer of the former Arsenal attacker. And Xavi will like to have the player in his squad in the 2023/24 season, especially if he leaves Bayern Munich. But Gnabry’s summer move to Barcelona is unlikely. And the Catalan giants have ruled out approaching Bayern Munich over a possible deal.

The report points out that the Barcelona squad has players of Gnabry’s ilk, namely Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha. And while the latter faces an uncertain future at Spotify Camp Nou, he will not leave Barcelona if Lionel Messi does not rejoin the Blaugrana.

Barcelona recently also ruled out a move for Joao Felix. And unless they move many pieces, they will unlikely spend a big sum to bolster the offensive unit in the summer transfer window. Considering Bayern Munich will demand a premium for Gnabry despite putting him up for sale, a summer deal is unlikely.

So even though Xavi Hernandez admires Serge Gnabry, a summer move will not see the light of day. But it will be interesting to see if the Barcelona manager can convince the Blaugrana to launch the offensive for the Bayern Munich attacker.
