Manchester United are reportedly looking to part ways with club captain Harry Maguire at the end of the season.

Harry Maguire has been a disappointing performer for Manchester United in the last two seasons. And the Red Devils are now willing to pay £10 million in order to get rid of him according to a report from Daily Mail.

Maguire is on a £190,000-a-week deal at Manchester United, and no club would be willing to pay his wages in full. It seems that Manchester United are now ready to make up the difference by offering him a golden handshake of £10 million.

Maguire joined Manchester United for a fee of around £80 million, and he is currently valued at £30 million. His performances have been largely underwhelming in recent seasons, and he has dropped down the pecking order at Old Trafford this past season.

The England international needs to play regularly at this stage of his career, and he is unlikely to get those opportunities at Old Trafford. It makes sense for the Manchester United captain to move on this summer. But it will be interesting to see where he ends up, with reports pointing towards decisive talks.

Maguire was an impressive defender for Leicester City, and it remains to be seen whether he can get back to his best once again. He has been linked with clubs like West Ham United and Newcastle United in recent months. The 30-year-old could still be a very useful player for mid-table clubs.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have been linked with defenders like Benjamin Pavard. So Maguire will fall further down the pecking order if they end up signing the French international. It is evident that the 30-year-old England international has been a sub-par signing, and Manchester United should look to cut their losses on him and move on now.

Maguire will be desperate to prove himself at the highest level once again, and he will be looking to get his career back on track with regular football at another club. Meanwhile, Manchester United will be looking to challenge for the league title next season, and they need better players than Maguire to compete with clubs like Manchester City.
