Mateo Kovacic has a ‘concrete possibility’ of leaving Chelsea in the summer, with Manchester United among those keen.

Rudy Galetti via Give Me Sport reckons Matro Kovacic will likely depart Chelsea in the summer. The £100,000-a-week Manchester United target will have a year left on his contract, with the Blues eager to cash in amid growing interest.

Mateo Kovacic completed his fifth season as a Chelsea player and may no longer prolong his career at Stamford Bridge. The midfielder will enter the final year of his contract with a big decision ahead regarding his future.

Chelsea are already looking at new midfield options to replace the Croatian, who has not been a consistent starter this season. Former manager Thomas Tuchel would like Bayern to sign Kovacic, but there’s strong interest in the £100,000-a-week Manchester United target from Premier League clubs.

The report insists there’s a ‘concrete possibility’ for Kovacic to leave Chelsea in the summer. The London club reportedly demands £50 million for the 29-year-old, which may seem unprecedented for those interested in the £100,000-a-week Manchester United target.

Journalist Rudy Galetti listed some of the keen clubs and reiterated that Kovacic might depart Chelsea. He said, “Mateo Kovacic is very likely to leave Chelsea in the summer. He is really appreciated by some Premier League clubs, such as Manchester City and Newcastle, but he also has admirers abroad.”

“At the moment, PSG are very interested in him, and the evolution that should take place at the Parisian club in the summer could start with signing the former Inter and Real Madrid player.

“Let’s pay attention to the Bundesliga as well, with Bayern Munich tracking him. Some Serie A clubs are monitoring him, even if his return to Italy seems difficult at the moment.”

Manchester United hold a serious interest in the Croatian and could look to discuss terms with Chelsea. The London side’s demands could become a stumbling block, but negotiations could bring the price down. The suggestion is that the Blues might look to recoup most of the £40 million they paid to sign him.

While Kovacic might have clubs like Manchester City also chasing his signature, there’s no way they or anyone else will pay £50 million. The length of his remaining contract may also play a factor in negotiations, as Chelsea may not have power in those discussions.

Kovavic will likely evaluate his offers, as he might look for a considerable pay rise at his next club. That may become a possibility at the Manchester Clubs, Bayern or PSG. There’s interest from Italy, but Serie A clubs may not be able to afford his wages in the current market.
