Liverpool have joined several other Premier League rivals in the chase for Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool have joined Arsenal, Tottenham, and Manchester United in the chase for Marc Guehi. Jurgen Klopp wants a new central defender. But there are doubts whether they will have the budget to prise the 22-year-old defender from Crystal Palace.

The next window will be about priorities and which positions clubs want to strengthen the most. Clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea are looking at a new striker on priority, while Arsenal and Liverpool intend to reinforce their midfield options.

Liverpool, for instance, are keen to revamp their defensive and midfield positions, with the latter taking precedence. Alexis Mac Allister is a player close to joining Jurgen Klopp’s side and will cost around £70 million, as per reports in England.

Klopp may want another midfielder in his squad, considering the many stars about to leave when the season ends. Moreover, the Liverpool boss has been looking for a new defender who could compete for a starting berth in his team.

Like their midfield ranks, central defence has also been a big problem for Liverpool this season. They are now interested in 22-year-old defender Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. But other rivals are also chasing the England international.

While Liverpool may have serious interest in Guehi, there are doubts about whether they would spend £50 million for the centre-back. Moreover, Arsenal and Tottenham are also keen on the 22-year-old defender, while Manchester United are also chasing the Palace star.

Klopp could push the signing of a new centre-back at the back of his list, with midfielders likely to get the preference. Such a situation could allow their rivals to swoop in for Guehi. For instance, Arsenal and Tottenham have kept close tabs on the 22-year-old defender in the last many weeks.

Both north London giants require a new centre-back and may not look much beyond the Premier League star. Similarly, Manchester United are also searching for a new defender and may pin their eyes on the Palace star. The London side will certainly ask for a sizeable fee in return, which may not prove too problematic for those teams.

Liverpool are possibly the only side facing the issue of paying that fee. They are operating on a reasonable budget. But unfortunately, after their priorities, there may not be any more room to spend big on a central defender.
