Aston Villa and West Ham United are reportedly considering signing 28-year-old Belgian striker Divock Origi from AC Milan this summer.

According to a report by Milan News, Aston Villa and West Ham United are interested in Divock Origi. The Liverpool icon has struggled to make his mark since joining AC Milan last year. And the two Premier League clubs are ready to bring him back to England. They have already submitted enquiries for the 28-year-old striker.

Divock Origi is an iconic figure in Liverpool folklore despite never being a first-choice option for Jurgen Klopp. The Belgian international took his time to get going at Anfield but became a match-winner off the bench. And his ability to be the super-sub helped Liverpool win the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League.

But Origi’s stint with Liverpool ended last summer after he became a free agent. And he joined AC Milan in a Bosman move, hoping to secure regular game time. But the 28-year-old has struggled to stamp his authority, managing only two goals and one assist in 35 appearances. But despite the player’s inconsistencies, he remains sought-after, with Aston Villa and West Ham United interested in him.

Aston Villa’s stock has risen considerably under the tutelage of Unai Emery. And the Spanish manager has brought the best out of several players, including the free-scoring Ollie Watkins. But the Englishman is the only recognised striker in the Aston Villa squad. And recent reports have linked Watkins with several top clubs.

So it behoves Aston Villa to sign a striker in the summer transfer window. And the Villans have set their sights on Origi over a possible move ahead of the 2023/24 season. But Aston Villa will face stiff competition from West Ham United for the Liverpool icon. And both clubs have submitted enquiries for the 28-year-old.

West Ham signed a striker in the January transfer window, bringing Danny Ings to the London Stadium from Aston Villa. But the experienced Englishman has blown hot and cold at the East London club. In addition, Michail Antonio is approaching the final phase of his career, while Gianluca Scamacca has struggled this term. So landing a centre-forward will bode well for West Ham.

Origi is a viable target for West Ham and Aston Villa. But clubs in Turkey are also keen on signing the 28-year-old Liverpool icon. Meanwhile, the Hammers have shown interest in several other strikers, including Habib Diallo. And it will be interesting to see which strikers arrive at the two Premier League clubs this summer.

Under David Moyes , Westham are where strikers go to fail and so most will stay well clear . Origi will never come to Westham and his form has been terrible since he went to Milan . It would be a mistake for him and Westham .

No. Origi’s a poor man’s Scamacca (and would rather keep the original anyway). If he’s not good enough for Liverpool, he’s not good enough for us.
