Newcastle United are keen on acquiring the services of 23-year-old Chelsea forward Joao Felix ahead of next season.

According to a report by Fichajes, Newcastle United are interested in signing Joao Felix. The 23-year-old is currently on loan at Chelsea, and he is all set to return to his parent club, Atletico Madrid, after the end of the season. However, his future at the Spanish club is uncertain, and the Magpies are ready to prise him away. And a €100 million move might be on the cards.

Felix came through the ranks at Benfica and established himself as one of the best players in the Portuguese club while he was a teenager. His performances caught the eye of multiple top clubs from across Europe. Eventually, Atletico Madrid won the bidding war and signed the Portuguese international for a fee of around €128 million.

However, his signing has not gone according to plan for Diego Simeone’s men. The 23-year-old has failed to live up to the expectations of the people at the club. Felix was no longer a preferred choice for Simeone. And as a result, he was sent out on loan to Chelsea midway through the season.

The Portuguese international has done decent for the Blues. But he has not been as effective as one would expect him to be. His loan expires after the end of the season, and he will return to his parent club. However, the player is not keen on continuing under Simeone and will push for a move away from the club.

While he has a long-term contract at the club, Atletico won’t stand in his way if they receive an offer close to what they paid for the 23-year-old. Meanwhile, the Magpies are keen on having Felix in their ranks. They are all likely to feature in the Champions League next season and are keen on bolstering their squad.

Eddie Howe wants to add more firepower to his ranks as he looks to take the next step. The arrival of Felix will add a lot more power to their attack as the 23-year-old can feature in multiple roles. With time still on his side, the Portuguese international can eventually become one of the world’s best.

The Magpies have the financial backing to pull off such transfers. And, they are considering making a €100 million move for the signature of the Chelsea forward. But an extended stay at Chelsea cannot be ruled out either.
