Dani Ceballos ready to leave Real Madrid

Real Madrid might soon lose 26-year-old Spanish midfielder Dani Ceballos, who wants to embark on a new adventure this summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Dani Ceballos has turned down the offer of a new contract by Real Madrid. The 26-year-old does not want to continue his stint at the Santiago Bernabeu. And he will embark on a new adventure ahead of the 2023/24 season, with Atletico Madrid and Real Betis interested.

Dani Ceballos has failed to fulfil his tremendous potential since joining Real Madrid from Real Betis in July 2017. The Spaniard was one of the best young midfielders in the world when he arrived from the Andalusian club. But Luka Modric and Toni Kroos’s presence in the team has meant he has always remained a backup option.

A two-year loan spell with Arsenal did not work out as well as he would have liked, either. While the 26-year-old was solid in his first season with the Gunners, his performance levels dropped in the following campaign. Since then, Ceballos has been a dependable performer for Carlo Ancelotti while still being a backup figure.

The Spanish international has featured more regularly this season, turning out 41 times across all competitions. Ceballos also has a solid tally of one goal and eight assists to show for his efforts. But his contract runs out in a few weeks, leaving Real Madrid in a spot of bother.

Ceballos’s contract situation has captured the attention of several Spanish clubs, including Atletico Madrid and Real Betis. Recent reports have also linked him with Barcelona. But widespread suggestions pointed to the Spaniard being ready to continue his stint with Real Madrid. However, that does not seem to be the case anymore.

The Merengues have been hoping to tie the 26-year-old Spanish international to a new contract. But Ceballos has now rejected Real Madrid’s contract offer. And instead of waiting for an improved proposal, he wants to leave the Spanish club for good in the summer transfer window.

The former Real Betis midfielder wants to resurrect his stuttering career by playing regular football. But he will not get that at Real Madrid, considering they want to sign Jude Bellingham and Gabri Veiga this summer. So Ceballos will embark on a new adventure after rejecting a contract offer from Real Madrid.
