La Liga heavyweights Atletico Madrid have reportedly tabled an offer to sign Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos in the summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet MARCA, Dani Ceballos is the subject of interest from Atletico Madrid. The Colchoneros have contacted the Real Madrid midfielder over a possible Bosman move in the summer transfer window. But the Spaniard wants to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Dani Ceballos has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Real Madrid from Real Betis over half a decade ago. The Spanish international was a promising midfield prospect when he arrived at the Bernabeu. But with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos remaining top-notch performers, he has struggled to stamp his authority at Real Madrid.

However, the 26-year-old is gradually turning his situation around at Real Madrid. And he has turned out 21 times across all competitions thus far in the 2022/23 season, chipping in with one goal and four assists. But Ceballos’s contract situation has alerted several high-profile clubs, including Atletico Madrid.

The Spaniard attracted interest from Premier League clubs in the January transfer window. But he knocked back the enquiries from those teams to remain at Real Madrid. However, with the player yet to sign a new Real Madrid contract, Atletico Madrid might sense an opportunity.

Los Rojiblancos will likely embark on a squad overhaul in the summer transfer window. And the midfield department urgently needs a revamp, with Saul Niguez and Thomas Lemar among the players facing uncertain futures at the Civitas Metropolitano. So several midfielders, including N’Golo Kante, have emerged on Atletico Madrid’s radar.

Ceballos is also a viable target for Los Rojiblancos. And the Colchoneros have made a proposal to the Real Madrid midfielder over a Bosman move. But while joining Atletico Madrid is an attractive proposition, he wants to remain at Real Madrid. And he remains focused on signing a new deal with Los Blancos in the coming weeks.

So Atletico Madrid will likely face disappointment in the race to sign the Spanish international. But it will be interesting to see if they can turn his head in the coming weeks. For now, Ceballos is keen on extending his Real Madrid stay by signing a new contract.
