Marco Verratti reportedly views Real Madrid as his ideal destination, with the PSG midfielder contacting Carlo Ancelotti.

According to a report by L’Equipe, as relayed by Madrid Xtra, Marco Verratti has decided to leave Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer window. The Italian midfielder views Real Madrid as his ideal destination. And he has already contacted Carlo Ancelotti over the possibility of a deal.

Marco Verratti has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world since joining PSG from Pescara in July 2012. The 30-year-old has spent over a decade at Parc des Princes, forging a lasting legacy at the French club. At the same time, he has been a regular for his national side, even guiding them to the UEFA Euro 2020 title.

The Italian international has turned out over 400 times for PSG, chipping in with 11 goals and 61 assists. But recent reports have suggested that Verratti’s long-term future at PSG is uncertain. And the experienced midfielder wants to join Real Madrid if he leaves Les Parisiens in the summer transfer window.

Real Madrid will bolster the midfield unit in the summer transfer window by signing Jude Bellingham. And the reigning La Liga champions want to finalise the deal for the Englishman as soon as possible. Recent reports have also claimed they are ready to offer a lucrative contract to the teenage sensation.

But Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are both approaching the end of their careers. In addition, Dani Ceballos is in the final months of his contract, with a new deal nowhere in sight. So Real Madrid might have to sign multiple midfielders. However, Verratti does not fit Los Blancos’ philosophy in the transfer market.

The Merengues tend to pursue players whose peaks are well ahead of them. And rarely do they sign someone who is already at the top of his game. Nonetheless, Verratti is keen on joining Real Madrid this summer and has already contacted Carlo Ancelotti.

It is unclear how Real Madrid will respond to what is clearly an offer to sign Verratti. For now, the Italian international views the Santiago Bernabeu as his ideal destination if he leaves PSG. And it will be interesting to see if a summer move sees the light of day.
