Barcelona will not entertain any offers for 20-year-old prospect Ansu Fati amid interest from Manchester United and Tottenham.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona will not sell Ansu Fati in the summer transfer window. The 20-year-old prospect is a target for Manchester United and Tottenham. But Xavi Hernandez wants the struggling youngster in his squad next season.

Ansu Fati has endured a significant drop in his stature in the last few years following his injury woes. The Spanish international was once supposed to be Lionel Messi’s heir at Camp Nou. But a spate of fitness issues has scuppered his progress, meaning he is no longer a consistent game-changer.

The 20-year-old has failed to make his mark this season despite remaining injury-free. He has started only 13 of the 48 games played by Barcelona this term, chipping in with seven goals and three assists. But Fati remains a highly-revered figure in the transfer market despite his struggles, with Manchester United and Tottenham interested.

Manchester United’s interest in Fati is somewhat surprising, considering they have two left-sided attackers in the squad. And while the 20-year-old prospect can play on the right flank and as a striker, the Red Devils should focus on signing an out-and-out centre-forward in the summer transfer window.

Nonetheless, Manchester United might attempt to sign the Barcelona attacker in the coming weeks. But the Red Devils face stiff competition from Tottenham, who recently joined the race to sign Fati. And unlike Manchester United, Tottenham can do with an attacker of Fati’s qualities.

The North London giants have struggled in the final third this season, with Harry Kane doing the heavy lifting. While Son Heung-min has improved in the last few weeks, Kane needs more support in the final third. And Fati is a viable target for Tottenham. But Barcelona will not entertain any offer for the 20-year-old.

Even though recent reports have alluded to a possible sale, Xavi Hernandez wants the Spanish international in his squad. Fati is not interested in leaving Barcelona either. So Manchester United and Tottenham will have to set their sights elsewhere heading into the summer transfer window.
