Chelsea could line up a sensational move for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the summer but could face tremendous competition from rivals.
According to Fichajes, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has emerged on Chelsea’s shortlist of attackers for the summer. The Georgian could become their main target if the Blues’ hierarchy deems it necessary to have another big outlay on attacking talents in the next window.
Chelsea owners may not have envisaged the position they currently find themselves in after spending more than €600 million on new recruits. That is quite unprecedented for any club to spend that much in the space of 12 months and then regress so much.
But that has been the case with Chelsea, as they might continue their spending spree in the summer. This time though, Todd Boehly will have to sell some of his existing stars to balance the books. But one cannot rule out some marquee arrivals.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia remains a player of interest to Chelsea, who could explore the idea of signing the 22-year-old attacker. The Georgian winger has had a sensational season with Napoli, helping them edge closer to the Serie A title with his 30 goal contributions.
The 22-year-old attacker, alongside Victor Osimhen, have been Napoli’s star performers this season and will surely attract many suitors. Chelsea are among those chasing the Georgian. But they are willing to make a big move if needed to prise him away.
Napoli could reportedly demand over €150 million for the 22-year-old attacker. Chelsea could open their doors towards paying such a large sum, as Boehly will do whatever it takes to bring the desired player. Moreover, the latest link to Kvaratskhelia may have come due to incoming manager Mauricio Pochettino’s demands.
However, Chelsea not playing in next season’s Champions League may prove problematic for them in the bid to land top talents. Kvaratskhelia’s 30 goal contributions this season have attracted numerous other clubs, including Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester City.
However, with their economic power, Chelsea could take the driving seat if Napoli hint at the possibility of selling the 22-year-old attacker. The Blues could make a huge move in the summer and bring Kvaratskhelia as their number-one target in the next window.
