Borussia Dortmund have entered the race for the signatures of 23-year-old Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Borussia Dortmund are interested in acquiring the services of Conor Gallagher. The future of Chelsea’s 23-year-old midfielder has been uncertain for a while now. And, there are quite a few clubs keen on signing him.

Gallagher has been a part of the Chelsea setup since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at the club and has become an important part of their first team of late. The 23-year-old was subject to multiple loan moves back in the day to gain first-team experience.

He was on loan at Crystal Palace last season. The England international had an exceptional campaign and it resulted in him being promoted to the Blues first team ahead of the ongoing season. He has since featured in 38 matches and has contributed towards three goals.

While he has become an important part of their first team, his future is still uncertain. The London club have spent a fortune on acquiring new players in the past few windows and now they will have to sell a few of their players to balance the books.

The Blues are open to the idea of letting Gallagher leave ahead of next season. However, they will only let him leave for a fee close to €50 million. While there are quite a few English clubs keen on the 23-year-old, German giants Borussia Dortmund have just joined the race, according to Plettenberg.

Dortmund are interested in acquiring the central midfielder ahead of next season. They are still in the race for the Bundesliga title but their manager Edin Terzic believes they need further reinforcement in the summer. With Jude Bellingham’s future uncertain, pushing for the signatures of the England international seems to be a sensible decision.

Dortmund have shown their interest in the 23-year-old. But they are yet to hold any concrete talks. People at the club admire Gallagher and would love to have him in their ranks. However, with a lot of clubs from across Europe keen on the England international, it will be interesting to see if they manage to land him at the club.
