Manchester United plot Ivan Toney move

Manchester United are interested in signing Ivan Toney, valued at £50 million by Brentford, at the end of the season.

Ivan Toney has been in splendid form in the Premier League this season, and he has 20 goals across all competitions. A report from Football Insider claims that Manchester United could look to make a move for him at the end of the season.

Apparently, the English striker is valued at £50 million, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for the Red Devils. Manchester United need someone who can lead the line for the next season, and the 27-year-old certainly fits the profile.

The Red Devils are keen on signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen as well. But the 24-year-old Nigerian international will be a far more expensive signing, and they would have to convince Napoli to sell their star striker.

Manchester United have been overly reliant on Marcus Rashford this season, and the 25-year-old England international has been in fine form. However, Rashford will be hoping to play in his natural role next season. So Manchester United must look to bring in a number nine in the summer.

Loan-signing Wout Weghorst is set to return to his parent club Burnley, and the Red Devils are left with very little depth in attack. Anthony Martial has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford as well due to the lack of playing time, his fitness issues, and poor form.

Toney has proven himself in the Premier League and could be keen on a step up. The opportunity to play for Manchester United will be a tempting proposition for the 27-year-old striker, and he is likely to be open to the move.

The Red Devils are expected to return to the Champions League next season, and they will be an attractive destination for most players. The 27-year-old will be hoping to test himself at a higher level, and Manchester United can offer him the platform. He has been linked with Newcastle United as well.

The reported £50 million asking price is certainly affordable for a club with Manchester United’s resources. But it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done. Toney will feel that a move to Old Trafford would reinforce his chances of playing regularly for the England national team as well.
