Jorge Mendes pushing Barcelona to sign Ruben Neves

Super-agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly pushing Barcelona to sign Ruben Neves, a target for Arsenal and Manchester United.

According to a report by SPORT, Jorge Mendes wants Barcelona to sign Ruben Neves in the summer transfer window. The 26-year-old is also a target for Arsenal and Manchester United. And he might leave Wolverhampton Wanderers after the 2022/23 season ends.

Ruben Neves has gone from strength to strength since joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from FC Porto nearly half a dozen years ago. The Portuguese international’s decision raised eyebrows, but he has helped make the Black Country outfit a stable Premier League side. At the same time, he has established a foothold in his national team.

The 26-year-old has made nearly 250 appearances for Wolverhampton Wanderers, chipping in with 29 goals and 12 assists. But Neves’s stint with the club might end this summer as he has a little over 12 months left on his contract. Such a situation has captured the attention of Barcelona, Arsenal, and Manchester United.

Barcelona will delve into the market for a holding midfielder in the summer transfer window. And Jorge Mendes has offered Neves to them. The super-agent is now pushing Barcelona to launch the offensive for the 26-year-old. But recent reports have claimed that the Catalan giants have ruled out signing him.

Such a situation gives Neves’s Premier League suitors like Arsenal and Manchester United the opening to sign him. Recent reports have also claimed that the Portuguese international is open to listening to offers from these clubs. And they will likely launch the offensive to land him in the coming months.

At Arsenal, Mikel Arteta wants to beef up the midfield unit to compete on all fronts next season. And Neves has emerged as one of the top targets for the Gunners. On the other hand, Manchester United will land a solid long-term partner for Casemiro if they secure the services of the 26-year-old.

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona will respond to Mendes’s manoeuvres favourably. If that does not happen, then Arsenal and Manchester United will have the impetus to make their moves for the Wolverhampton Wanderers skipper in the summer transfer window.
