Premier League giants Chelsea are ready to offload their 33-year-old club captain Cesar Azpilicueta ahead of next season.

According to a report by Fichajes, Chelsea are ready to sell Cesar Azpilicueta in the summer. The club are willing to part ways with their 33-year-old club captain. The Blues have spent a fortune on acquiring new players over the last few transfer windows. And, it is time for them to balance the books by offloading a few of their players.

Chelsea have struggled in the ongoing season despite making numerous signings since the arrival of co-owner Todd Boehly. The Blues have gone big in the transfer windows, but the results have not gone according to plan.

The Blues are currently 11th in the Premier League and are all set to miss out on the Champions League for next season. And, they have been recently knocked out of the UEFA Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid.

Chelsea have been struggling from the start of the season, and they recently parted ways with Graham Potter. Meanwhile, Frank Lampard has been handed over the reins of the club as their caretaker manager until the end of the season.

While they are yet certain about their next manager, the club have already started planning for the summer transfer window. They will head into the market to first offload players before they try to fill the gaps in their squad.

The Blues have prepared a list of players that they will look to part ways with in the summer. And Azpilicueta is a part of that list. The 33-year-old utility man has been a part of Chelsea since 2012. He has featured in over 500 matches for the club and has been involved in 73 goals.

The Spain international has been integral to the club’s success over the years and has been their skipper for a while now. The 33-year-old veteran has been a utility man for his team and has featured in different positions over the years.

As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the Chelsea captain has featured in 26 matches. But, he has been on the pitch for just over 1,400 minutes. His game time has taken a major hit of late. And, the 33-year-old is no longer in their plans. As a result, they are looking to offload him in the upcoming transfer window. And he might have a few high-profile suitors if he leaves Chelsea.
