Barcelona are keen on acquiring the services of 24-year-old Alessandro Bastoni and are willing to offer two players in return.
According to a report by Calciomercatoweb, Barcelona want to sign Alessandro Bastoni ahead of next season. The 24-year-old is one of the best defenders in Serie A, and a lot of top clubs across Europe are keen on acquiring his services.
Bastoni came through the ranks at Atalanta and became an integral player for their first team before making a move to Inter Milan in the summer of 2017. After his transfer to the Serie A giants, the 24-year-old spent multiple years out on loan.
The Italian international started featuring in their first team in the 2019/20 season. And, he has not looked back since. Bastoni has gone from strength to strength in the last few seasons and is at the peak of his powers at this point in time.
The 24-year-old has featured in 34 matches in the ongoing campaign and has six assists to his name. He has been an integral part of the Serie A team’s success over the years. And, he has played a vital role in their dream run in the UEFA Champions League so far.
Bastoni’s current contract at Inter Milan runs out in the summer of 2024. And, there are no talks of a possible extension at this point in time. With just over a year left in his contract, the 24-year-old could be subject to a move in the summer. Barcelona are keen on having him in their ranks. Xavi’s team are keen on bolstering their squad ahead of next season, and they have their eyes set on the Italian international.
Bastoni’s arrival could surely help Barcelona’s cause. The 24-year-old is a great defensive asset and can also build games from the back. He can easily fit into Xavi’s system. And, the club are willing to offer Sergino Dest and Samuel Umtiti plus cash for the services of the Inter Milan defender.
Dest and Umtiti are currently out on loan and are all set to return in the summer. They are surplus to requirement at Barcelona. And, the Catalan club are ready to let go of the duo.
Meanwhile, Inter Milan could also benefit from this deal as Dest could replace Dumfries who is likely to leave in the summer. And, Umtiti could cover for Milan Skriniar, who will leave for Paris Saint-Germain. However, it will be interesting to see if the Serie A giants agree to a part-exchange deal, given that they have always asked for cash for their players.
